If you want your website to be successful and if you want your website to get more traffic and sell more product or services, then this is really a no-brainer. Having a blog / news section is a vital tool in your digital marketing toolkit. Easy to say, so let’s back that up with some specifics.
Better Google Rankings
If you know anything about SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) you will know that despite the complexities involved, all Google search wants to do is produce the most relevant results to your search queries. Sounds simple enough? One of the big ways to do that, is for your website to be the authority on your chosen field; how do you do that? By filling your website with relevant content. And a great way of doing that is by using a blog. Google loves regular, new content, so a blog is perfect for this.
Connect with your audience.
What we are trying to do is convince our audience, our potential customers, that they should use our service or buy our product, but to be successful in doing that you need to gain their trust. One way of doing that is by using a blog to show your experience; write thought provoking content, don’t be afraid to give away information and insight into your experience.
Once you have this great content this will help in your marketing efforts to share out on Social Media. You want as big a digital footprint as possible but for this, you need regular content and a blog is the perfect supply.
So why is it I come across websites that have a blog but haven’t posted in 3 months?
Because they came to the conclusion that they should have a blog but then realised they simply didn’t have time to post on a regular basis.
The key here is planning and execution, like everything when it comes to digital marketing. Time management is key. You need to plan a month ahead, plan out the topics you want to cover how many posts you want to create per week. Then section off a block of time, sit down and create the content. Turn your phone off and don’t check your email, if it takes a whole day, so be it. Schedule the articles to be released in advance and then co-ordinate that by then scheduling your social media posts relating to this, again in advance using a schedule platform like Hootsuite or Zoho Social.
By the time you have finished your day’s work you have created a whole month’s worth of content and social media posts and by doing this you have become a digital marketing superstar! Take a bow and exit stage left!
I follow a guy on YouTube called Neil Patel who is a SEO Rockstar in his own right. He creates a huge amount of video content but as he explains himself, he will record 15 videos in one session to be released over the course of a month. This is really the only way you can create ongoing content in a time effective manner.
Increase your leads
Every time you publish an article on your blog and send it out on your digital channels you are effectively fishing for clients. How often do you read a blog post and see a call to action at the bottom of the page, or a quick sign up to a newsletter? This is exactly what I’m trying to do right now by writing this article. I’m hoping that you enjoy and find value in the content I’m providing and will then sign up to receive more information or fill out my enquiry form to arrange a meeting.
The key here is to not be afraid to give away information, be honest, upfront and try to give value. Hold on that’s sounds like the three pillars of SEO! Authority, relevance and trust. But I’ll save that for another post.
